Congratulations to all our students and visiting athletes who competed at the Grand Valley Games yesterday!
Competition offers many benefits, including: learning to deal with adrenaline and bodily impact in a safe environment; the opportunity to learn from martial artists with different experience levels; goal setting and achievement; developing resilience, tenacity, reaction skills, and emotional control; and FUN!
Hosting a tournament is a lot of work! But we want our students to reap these benefits (plus winning medals is awesome). The nearest tournaments are 4+ hours of driving from us, which isn't feasible for many of our students. So we host the Grand Valley Games each year to provide this local opportunity for our students to compete and learn.
We deeply appreciate the schools that travel out to to Grand Junction to participate. We hope to provide a great experience to every athlete, coach, and spectator. We look forward to next year!
